Troubleshooting

Most issues come down to one of a few common causes — check these first.

A site looks broken or won't load

Use Temporary Allow (10 min / 1 hour) to confirm DNDShield is the cause, then add the site to your allowlist if it needs to stay off permanently.

Protection shows as off

Open the popup and check the power button is green. If it keeps turning off, check you haven't got a temporary allow still active, or a schedule window that's paused it.

Ads are still showing

Confirm the site isn't in your allowlist, then reload the page — filter lists sometimes need a fresh page load to apply. Video-platform ads (YouTube, Twitch, Dailymotion, Crunchyroll) are muted and sped through rather than removed outright; see Supported Platforms for what to expect on each.

Extension icon is missing

Pin it from your browser's extensions menu (puzzle-piece icon in Chrome/Edge, jigsaw icon in Firefox).
