Custom Rules

Custom rules let you write your own blocking rules on top of DNDShield's built-in filter lists — useful for a site-specific ad slot or script the default lists don't catch.

Turning it on

In the options page, open the Custom Rules tab and switch it on. Rules only apply while this is enabled.

Adding a rule

Each rule has three parts:

• urlFilter — the pattern to match, e.g. *://*.example.com/*.
• Domains (optional) — a comma-separated list to restrict the rule to specific sites.
• Types (optional) — comma-separated resource types to match, e.g. script, image, xhr.

Rules you add appear under Your rules, where you can remove any you no longer need.

This is an advanced feature — most people never need it, since the built-in lists already cover the vast majority of ads and trackers.
