Sometimes you don't want to turn DNDShield off entirely for a site — you just want one part of it off. That's what per-site (site override) controls are for.
Ads vs. trackers, separately
A site override lets you turn off features" class="doc-internal-link">ad blocking while keeping tracker blocking on for that site, or the reverse — instead of the all-or-nothing choice an allowlist gives you.
When this matters
- A site's layout depends on an ad slot to hold together, but you still don't want its trackers running.
- A site's ad blocking is fine, but a specific element DNDShield's cosmetic filtering hides is one you actually need visible.
How to set one up
- Open the options page's Site Overrides tab.
- Enter the site's host and click Load, or New to create one.
- Set Block Ads and the cosmetic/YouTube options independently.
FAQ
Does this sync across devices? Yes, if you're signed in with sync enabled — same as your allowlist.
How is this different from Temporary Allow? Temporary Allow pauses everything for a site, on a timer. Site overrides are permanent and granular — you choose exactly which piece stays on.
